A Little About Me

“Photography teaches me to see things in a better light, allows me to communicate when there are no words, and opens up a dream world to which I can escape”

My name is April Jean Koehler and I am a photographer who’s main focus is nature and fine art. I was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota but currently reside near a little town known as McGregor with my husband and our dog Merle. Some of my favorite things in life (besides photography) are dogs, Diet Coke, ice cream, books made of paper, red roses, American Horror Story, Impractical Jokers, music by Within Temptation, Sia, and Lana Del Rey, mascara, cool and foggy mornings, the sounds of a river flowing or waves crashing, playing fun board games with friends, hiking on a beautiful autumn day, road trips to explore new places, and dancing like nobody’s watching.

About My Work

“There are always two people in every picture; the photographer and the viewer.” ~Ansel Adams

Photography is not only my passion; it’s my therapy. It’s my way of expressing emotions that I cannot communicate with words. It allows me to share my vision and connect with people through a different medium. Even though I created the images on this website through my vision; I want you to connect with them on a personal level and interpret them in your own way. If you’ve found an image in my Gallery that you connect with and love, please contact me and tell me about it. You can also purchase prints and other products in my Shop if you see anything you would love to have for yourself or give as a gift. If you would like to license any of my images for use please click here. I license my images through 500px.com. For anything else, please don’t hesitate to Contact Me.
